The special microalga SCHIZOCHYTRIUM sp. is an ingenious plant-based source of the important omega-3 fatty acids DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). What's special about this alga is that it doesn't need light for cultivation and can be sustainably grown in controlled, closed systems. The advantage: no contaminants, heavy metals, or microplastics in the vegan algae oil – and the marine ecosystem is protected. For our organism, omega-3 fatty acids are essential, since the body cannot produce them on its own. They are building blocks of cell membranes and involved in many metabolic processes.
